Underground genies, spirits of the forest, trolls, imps, mythical kings, he lived in a world of magic. He believed his gods would protect him, and he believed they would turn on him, according to their whim. Still he sailed, taking care to heed the portents and signs of the natural world, to judge the mood of his gods. He struck out for a new land, to find silver, to find a new life.
