MacBook Air gets 20,000 crystals, 2 cherubs

I’ve been waiting for the moment when famed Renaissance painter Raphael and an Apple product finally meet in a triumphant clash of art and design.

MacBook Air gets 20,000 crystals, 2 cherubs

Sound the trumpets and cue the “Hallelujah” chorus! That day has arrived in the form of a 2011 MacBook Air slathered with 20,000 Swarovski crystals arranged as Raphael’s two cherubs against a silvery background of glittering angel tears.

The crystals covering the Apple logo light up so that everyone around you will know that you’ve adulterated Steve Jobs’ design vision.

This Apple abnormality is the work of Crystallize Your Design, a company that will create any image you want in crystals on electronic devices, shoes, and microphones.

There is no word on what it cost to have the Air ensconced in the glistening design, but you can bet that it wasn’t cheap.

If you still can’t quite believe that this is real, check out the video below of the shimmering Air swirling around on a stand to music that sounds like it came out of a Jane Austen film adaptation. It’s mesmerizing.
